Okay I don't think it's able to do this but I thought I'd ask anyway.

When you render something in 3DSM is it possible to have the background transperant?

Thanks in advance.

can you explain "background"?

Do you mean your background for refs? or your environment background?

Well there is no direct way of doing it, but you do have options.

You could make a background plate and apply the bitmap to it then adjust the Trans. in the material editor.

Or you could do some compositing with Photoshop. Render out the image w/o the background make the BG color white and save the images as a targa so it has a alpha channel. Then is PS open up both the rendering and the BG and drop the BG into your image and use the Alpha channel to composite the image. Then you have full control of the opacity of the BG.
