Hi all,

Do any of you smart people know where I can access a table that translates the "Family ?? Model ?? Stepping ??" info that is shown in the Ms-Windows Device Manager into Processor Class and Speed specs.

For example: I think a "Family 6, Model 8, Stepping 6" is a Pentium II 300Mhz.

A full list would be most grateful as that would save me removing the case cover and the cpu fan to get at the CPU chip.

Even if the Family etc info only gave an approximate processor range would be better than having to shut down the system and pulling down the components.

However, (just a thought) is there a util that I can run to give me this info??

Thanks.

Certain BIOS will have that info for you. You can always go there before Windows starts and see if it's there
