Hi

I'm trying to make the transition from using tables to CSS. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I've used css before for text formatting etc, but am really stuck with creating tables or the css equivalent which I think is boxes which I guess are put next to each other.

It's probably I'm still in table mind set but I'm finding this transition terribly hard.

Thanks

Charlotte

I'd suggest starting with some basic tutorials such as the one from You'll then want to start having a look into methods such as "float" which you can use to layout your pages.

Also remember that tables are not banned, they are only being limited to their intended usage. People tend to think that suddenly tables are evil, they are perfectly usable when they are utilized to display tabular data, not structure a page.

So if you need to display tabular data its o.k to use tables.

Many thanks, trying to get my head around it. I have been using tables to structure a page layout but I realize css is the way to go. I will continue to work through various tutorials.
