Transfer to Vmail from remote system

I cant get transfer to Vmail working from the remote system of a centralized Vmail setup. I can access it dialing the Vmail DN directly. Please help.

You have to be kidding me! I know the feature codes dont work but there has to be a way to transfer a caller to Vmail from the remote site other wise it makes centralized Vmail kinda moot.

I know it's bogus, but you transfer to the DN and it CFNA to Vmail.

we had a similar problem. Something about assigning a target line per extension or something. We have some sales staff that we need to Xfer to their VM and they do not have an extension.

That is how our trainer got us around it.

You need to program a target line and assign it to each mailbox under express message line.

Good idea, they just have to have a different DN for direct to Vmail.

I have target lines assigned for all DN's on both sites but I am assuming 56BelAir you are refering to something else that I am not familiar with. Where is "express message line"?

i think they are saying to build another Target line that is assigned to anyone on the host side. Then go into the mailbox you want and assign that line at the MSG LINE prompt. Then try to transfer to the new target line (using the rec digits) and it should go into the mailbox. Kind of a back door work around.

Build a target line on host side with rcvd digits that are different from the remote DN, but relates to it, so it's easy for someone to remember. As in, Joey's DN is 2200, but to transfer to Vmail direct I Transfer to 3200. Whatever the Target Line number is for those recvd. digits, 3200, on the host side is what you enter on the bottom line of their Mbox at Express Messaging Line. I'm glad I thought of it. LOL, BelAir gets all the credit. Make sure you Star him, when it works!

I am probably not going to attempt the target line solution at this point due to the confusion it will cause with operators and users having to remember more extension numbers added for mail box transfers. But here is another thought I have had, try and capture the digits (using the BCM monitor) being sent from the 50 to the 400 during CFNA because the set itself can access its own mail box directly so it must send something for the 400 to recognize it. Ill repost after testing. BTW. I appreciate all the responses it has helped immensely.

You should still test it on 1 Mbox, and give the customer the option.

I figured it out for any one interested. Here are the steps i performed.
NOTE: this was all done on the host system

Keep in mind my IP route from the remote site was already set for 2 as the Digits.

1. Pick out an unused DN and target line (my case is 290 and 399 respectively)
2. Assign the DN number to the target line Private rcvd digits. I did left it public and did not assign it to anything.
3. Assign the AA to answer the target line with 0 delay and assign it to an unused table.
4. Programmed a button on each set as an external auto dial to 290 and labeled it as Xfer To Vmail.

Now any extension can dial the Xfer to button and when the AA picks up dial * and the Mbox number and whola your transfered to Voice Mail and the user only has to know one nuber for the extension and Mbox. As a finishing touch I added a greeting to the table giving a prompt to press * and the Mbox number. The reason i went his way is mainly due to posts by others saying you can *9xx as an outside caller to access Vmail features so i figured this out to simulate the same enviroment internally, so thanks to all those who got me in the right direction!
