Hi,

We are currently running two legato networker servers, both are version 6.1.2. We are in the process of moving to a new building and have a new backup solution, and only require to take one of the servers, however some of the clients need to transferred from the one we are decommissioning. My question is, is it possible transfer the client pack from the one to another? so I can also move the clients. I am not concerned about transferring save sets, etc.

Many thanks in advance,

Fraser

In general, you can transfer any license ... as long as you stay with the same OS (familiy). You just need to apply for new auth codes. This is called a host transfer.

Unfortunately, you did not say whether you also change the OS. In this case the license pack may become useless. For instance, when you move the OS for your NetWorker server from HP-UX to Windows, you do not need a ClientPak for Windows any longer.

Just a side note. A host transfer will transfer ALL licenses from one host to another. What i´m guessing you want to do is transfer just a few licenses, perhaps some Client Connections?
This is called a Option transfer, and you´ll need to tell EMC/Legato that you want to option transfer a certain license (the enabler code) from a certain server (host id and base enabler) to a new server (new host id and new base enabler).
The base enabler is the enabler code for the server license, usually named something like "NetWorker for Windows/UNIX..."
You´ll then recieve new authorization codes that you use on the new server.

Cheers!

Many thanks for your replies. I suspected that I would have to contact legato for a new auth code. - Was just hoping I wouldn't need to as it was so long ago we purchased the licences, and I think we have lost details of them.

Cheers anyway,
Fraser

You shouldnt have too many issues getting EMC to advise new auth codes, as they should already have the existing Enabler Codes auth'd to the current Hostid wich in turn is licensed under your Site Id/Customer name.

good luck.
