Hello again.

Avaya Office IP Release 4.2

Workers at one of our Office IP swtiches are trying to transfer incoming calls to external numbers. They press transfer, enter 9, then the area code and it's blocked -- the phone displays "Incompatible".

I've dug around in the manuals and everything looks like it should be set to allow external transfers, but obviously I'm misssing something.

Any help on where to look would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dale

under the system tab, is inhibit of switch transfer ticked?

arsene knows......

everything. apart from the importance of depth in a squad. and what a chequebook looks like......

No it's not.

Are they analog lines? If so is "allow trunk to trunk transfer" checked on each of the lines?

We have 23 PRI and four analog trunks. I thought the calls would be be routed out on the PRIs, but maybe not.

Allow trunk to trunk transfer wasn't checked. I've changed it but I can't reboot the swtich until midnight.

I'll let you know if that helps.

Thanks.

If your analog lines are in the same outbound line ID group as the PRI channels they will be used. I typically put them in a seperate outbound group and setup an alternate ARS table to use the analog lines for outbound only if the T1 is down.

Thanks for all the help.

Unfortunately the analog trunks weren't the problem.

It must be something else barring transfers.

Any other ideas where to look?

a dot riddle at sky dot com ,you can send the config (cfg) file if you want and I'll take a look. No problem if you don't want to for security etc.

Add 'Not-end-to-end ISDN' Information Element:"

Is set to "NEVER" on the PRIs. Could that be the problem? It looks like something new for 4.2.

Inhibit Off-Switch-Forward/Transfer" can be enabled or disabled in System Tab, User Rights or in USER Tab (Telephony-Supervisor settings).

Check this again.

All programming looks good to me, what's the number you are dialing when it's blocked? (first few digits will do) Can you dial it normally?

On a side note the 5410's and 20's dont need the "Time of Day" button on 4.2 it shows the time and date by default. :)

Transfer then 9704 then they get "Icompatible" on the screen.

Normally contractors program and install the systems and we get them when they have problems. (Not claiming that I could do any better. I'm a Nortel tech trying to figure these things out.)

Thanks for letting me know.

Is it all external transfers that fail then? And you can dial the failing numbers normally. I'm UK so not up on T1's but is the line prefix 91 required?

Hello amriddle01:

Not for 704. 704 is an area code (NPA) but it's local. (They use ten-digit dialing.) I've been told that the problem is not on all external transfers. Unfortunately, it's like pulling teeth from a giraffe to get any hard information from them. And I have to play email and phone for the little bit of information I do get.

I'm in Dallas, Texas and the switch is in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I'll try to get them to test some more tomorrow, so I can figure how much is working and how much isn't.

Thanks for the help.

Check the ARS table and make sure the xxxxxxxxxxN has been removed. This entry is usually in the table as a default and can cause problems. There is also a possibility it is the carrier. I have been dealing with an issue with external transfers over PRI with a customer for about 3 weeks now. Tier 4 is working on it and cannot find anything wrong and feels it may be carrier related.

@cmnstr, he has that entry in jis ARS but he's failing before it would match that shortcode, I must admit I wondered why that one was in there.
