I've been asked to give a training class to a group migrating frm a Nortel to an Avaya. Nothing complicated, just phone and voicemail training. Does anyone know where I can find some good source information for building a class ssuch as this? Templates, layouts, that kind of stuff.

I know this seems lame but the Avaya support page will have info on particular phones and various documentations.
I would skip it and make one yourself. The darn things are so simple to use in comparison. I have done quite a few training sessions converting from Seimons ROLM and needed no more than 10 minutes of basic operation and they are on their way.

For the phone system, go to avaya's website and download the Guidebuilder software. It basically creates a manual using your feature codes, and explains how to use the phone.

Depends on what VM system you have, but here is a link to all thier users guides:

RTMCKEE

CM 2.1.1
Prologix R9.05
Modular Messaging 1.1

RTMCKEE, thanks for the link; that's a new one for me.

Added to rtmckee's answer, Guidebuilder can create your manual as a single HTML file; what I did was break that manual into separate web pages for each function, then created a phone training index on our intranet web page that linked to those sections. Then I added in the Intuity VM user training (already in HTML) and viola - almost-instant web-based user training.
