Hi everyone!

Is there a way to permantly disable the Track changes feature in Word 2003?

Thanks for the help!!

GerbieIT,

Please forgive my intrusion.

Do you want to disable tracked changes from the screen, from the printed hard copy, or both?

I only ask to help you get the best answer.

Tim

Actually both if possable.

On the 'Reviewing' toolbar, there is an icon that lets you switch off 'Track Changes' for a particular document. That's in Word 2002, and when I create a new document, the 'Track Changes' is switched off and stays off unless I choose to switch it on.

If your set-up is different, it is probably set on the 'Normal' template. Tools > Options might have something, though I have not found anything.

Track Changes is a toggle. It may be off, but someone can turn it back on. Even if it is turned off in normal.dot, it can easily be turned on in any document.

If you don't want it on, don't turn it on. If you mean permanently disable it from BEING turned on, you could remove it from the menu. However, if someone wanted to get it back on the menu, it would not be hard to do so.
