Windows 2000 Pro - user cannot map a drive using Tools>Map Network Drive. When trying this the Map Network Drive window never opens. Same for Disconnect Network Drive.

There is a persistent network connection that gets mapped at startup with no problem. The user is actively using software from this mapped drive.

Running SP4 but I have removed it and get same results with SP2 so I went back to SP4.

This is a workgroup setting. It does not matter if user has administrative rights or not, same results. McAfee virus scan finds nothing. Nothing in event viewer to indicate problem.

Any suggestions?

rshendrix, go get sp6 and install all patches, you'll find many bugs that die

can you map a drive using the net use command? And if not, does it give you an error message.

I do believe I was able to map a drive using net use. The computer is not near me but I will check it tomorrow.

I can map a drive using the net use command. I have now created a batch file that runs at startup that does map the drive that the user needs. That's the short term fix, the long term looks like I'll have to reinstall the op sys.
