Guys, can anyone suggest a tool which can change both passwords at once and which can be delivered to Help Desk staff for admin purposes?

Have u looked into password syncing, LDAP, Account Manager?

Andrew, i have looked at LDAP but cant seem to find anything which has a nice GUI for HelpDesk staff.
Does account management provide this function and where can i get this?

Thanks

yes it does but you really want to install dirxml as well
it's the way forward

you can then maybe look at eguide -but you will need dirxml first

With Netware 6, iManager is intended to be used for help desk purposes. Setup a role that handles password resets and basic account management, give it to the help desk..

Then, if I understand Dirxml correctly, it will sync the changes to the Windows accounts automatically. I would be happy for someone to correct me if I am mistaken.

If the schema has not been extended to allow RBS object types then from what tool (console one etc) do you perform the extension?
This as i understand it is necessary in order to create Role Based services.

Thanks for your time guys.

I would have thought it would have already been extended from when you installed NW6. But there should be a RBS.SCH file in SYS:SYSTEM that you could use to manually extend the schema. You do it from the server in nwconfig.

Guess I'll chim in.

Okay, now the NetWare client can do this nativly. When you go through the change password function with in the Netware client for NT/2k/XP you are given the option to change both passwords.

The DirXML Marvin brings up will also do this, along with much much more. The password sync feature is an add on product (but it's free, DirXML is not). The passwords will not be sync on install, they will not be synced until a change happens. So to start with, the passwords will not be synced and there is nothing that will sync the. When you make a password change in the client, ConsoleOne, NWAdmin, iManager, AD User Manager, or anyware else (NetWare or Windows), the passwords will get synced at that time and from then on in the future.
