I am using CR 8.5 and vb6. I am storing records in Access. For my Crystal Report, I have two tables that are around 350 fields total. It was working fine when i just had one table hooked up, but when i added the data from the second table, i get the "too many fields defined" error. I have tried Compacting the database, but that did not work. Is there a limit on the number of fields in a report? Or am I completely missing something obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have never encountered it but there may indeed be a limit on the number of data fields Crystal can handle. When you link directly to the database and select tables, Crystal must create references to all the fields in those tables, not just the ones you select for the report. Can you write an access query that links the tables and just returns the fields you need? Another option is to create the query in the Crystal SQL Designer. This would require using an ODBC connection to the Access database.

I am an ODBC connection now, and I am using all of the fields in both tables. Well all but 5 of them. That is what is keeping me from using an Access query. I just tried to split them into two reports, and use one as a subreport in the other. That didn't work out so well either. I can't find anything written down on the limit of fields from Access. Thanks for your reply!
