TOC from CHARACTER STYLE

Does anyone know how to make a TOC or INDEX based on CHARACTER STYLES rather than from PARAGRAPH STYLES?

Plugins, Scripts, or native in InDesign?

At the moment, ID only extracts TOC entries on paragraph styles, not character styles.

Well, I am interested in exactly this same issue. Is there ANY way to at least extract the CHARACTER styled text out of InDesign (via XML, AppleScript, etc.)?

I can change my script TextSorting to search for selected CharStyle contents and sort and crate TOC - now script search and sort for ParaStyle ...
