Hi all- I'm trying to setup a tie line between my switch and a dialogic card (specifically and ISDN-PRI) for a recording app but I have zero idea about how to physically connect the two without a CSU and I hear this can be done. HELP!!!! What kind of cable do I need to make to get this to work? Are there any tricks in settings I need to know?

This is easy to do...if you've done it before. But it's almost impossible to explain here in writing, which probably has something to do with the lack of response so far to your question. It also depends on your Definity hardware configuration and software version. You need ISDN RTU (right to use) to use ISDN, but you can make it work without ISDN too. You may need a special adapter to get the T1 out of the Amphenol connector on the back. (Normally the CSU does this.)

I suggest you find someone in your area to help you out, or call Avaya. However, to summarize:

1) You need to make a T1 crossover cable to cross the TX/RX pairs between the two devices.
2) When you configure the DS1, if ISDN, set signalling mode to ISDN and "Connect" to "host" to make it the host side of the ISDN connection. Line Coding/Framing B8ZS/ESF. If not ISDN, signalling should be robbed bit, ami/d4. In both cases, CSU type is other since there isn't a CSU.
3)For ISDN, add a signaling group "add sig next" to configure the ISDN D-Channel.
4)Add a trunk group with all the DS1 channels.
5) Configure your dialogic card to match settings to the Definity.

Once you have everything working, a status on the trunk group should show all trunks in-service/idle. Then you need to program call routing via ARS, UDP, etc.

This is a very brief summary, I've only hit the highlights and these steps may vary depending on hardware/software config. There are many more steps than just this.

Good luck.
