TM31, LDAP, CND21 - does it work!?

Good Evening all,

I am just about to embark on a voyage of discovery trying to get my AD users into CND through synchronisation. Obviously what I want to do then is sync this info with my Nortel CS1000.
(1) Is this possible? Can I push AD information to a phone using sync?
(2) Can I authenticate against TM using AD?
(3) How often should I sync (1 a day?)
(4) Am I out of my tree trying this?

Any help would be great!!

I personally don't sync with my AD, but I do all my CND modifications via an LDAP browser/editor.

So being that CND is LDAP and AD is LDAP, I don't see why the 2 wouldn't talk. It would be just a matter of field mapping.

That is what I was hoping! I have the login to TM using AD for authentication... that was easy enough. I'll play with the LDAP sync tomorrow.

OK, so a little update!

I have managed to get the LDAP sync working... it pulls information in and I can assign users to phones now in TM... However, how do I push that information to the CPND on the phone? There is a button saying "copy information from directory" but that doesn't work saying "user not found in directory" even though I have just succesfully selected the user from the Directory options further up the screen!!

The LDAP sync works fine if I put the user first name and lastname in the CPND it matches to AD and syncs... can I sync to telephone number in AD instead to populate?!

I must be honest I seem close to what I want here but feel something is missing!

In addition to this... can't I just bring my whole AD into Corporate directory (i.e. bring in people who's phones are not matched for external dialling or mobiles?)

Any help would be superb!

CND is strickly CND.

That being said, in TM, when you build a new phone, assign a user, then build either scr/scn/mcr/mcn keys, you can click the "Copy Name from Directoy" button. That will copy the "CPND Name" field from the CND.

When you save and transmit the set, CPND will then be populated with the user's name.

I don't think there is a way to take CND directly to CPND without custom scripting.

Ah! There is the answer. I wasn't sync'ing CPNDName when I pulled the data over from AD. I have added the field and the button "copy name from directory" is working now! Thanks very much! Shame to find out that there is no way of automatically pushing the info straight into CPND from TM... I thought I'd be able to sync on DN (phone number) from AD and push the CPND info...

Ah well, there's all that free time I thought I had gone!
