Hello

I have 2 user accounts on my laptop. The one I use named after me and a guest one. Once I leave it for a few minutes, when i return it is back to the blue logon screen and I have to enter my password to go in again.

What is causing this and how can i disable it? I know i have disabled the screensaver.

Thanks

Go to screensaver, power, advanced and uncheck the "prompt for password" box.

Hi Erik,

I had already unchecked this option. Is there any other reason you can think of?

Are you sure your screensaver is set to none?

Two places you can check:

1. Display Properties > ScreenSaver. Uncheck "On resume, password protect."

2. Power Options > Advanced. Uncheck "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby.

You can go into the control panel and click on "Users". Click that you want to change your password and then do not type anything and leave it blank, then save. You will no longer need a password to login when your computer starts.

Trojan's suggestion will be the problem that you are having, Prompt for Password is to get out of the screen saver, where as "on resume, password protect" takes you back to the fast switches user login. And, as he states again, it could be either from the machine screen saver coming on after x minutes, or the same action on the machine going into standbye after x minutes.

Hope this Helps.

If you have a blank password, you will need to create another admin account with a password. The problem is when you try to connect to another machine - telnet, drive mapping, netmeeting, remote desktop will not allow connection without a password.

Thank you guys

I have disabled standby and screensaver and it dont take me to logon screen anymore.
