Let me know if this is appropriate discussion for this forum.

I need an action word (to replace my curse word) for the following scenario.

While multi-tasking, I am swapping between windows at a furious pace, when suddenly I click the Close (X) in the upper right corner of a window and it closes (of course). The kicker is between my switching to the screen I want to close and my mouse getting to the appropriate corner, another window pops up because it is ready for some attention and I still click the Close(X), closing the wrong window.

This action needs a word other than "Blankety-Blank I closed the Blankety window again!!"

Something on the order of "I can't believe I just ________ed again" or "Try not to ________ while multi-tasking."

The word "sneed" has an infrequently used definition: snatch. To me, it could be the abbreviation of "I've x-ed the window I need" or "x-ed need" or "sneed".

Aw dammit! I sneeded the window with that article I wanted to read!

...or:

Careful you don't sneed that e-mail before you've sent it.

'just the first thing I thought of.

Well, what immediately came to mind for me was the plethora of nonsense words that I can invent at the drop of a hat. Of course, most of these have a sort of goofy sound (which is what I've generally been aiming for when I've played with them in the past).

I'll put these in '-ed' form because it's easier to hear them as they'd be used.

framulgated
dinkthorped
hizzabonged
sneedled (stealing "sneed" to give it a different sound)
shimblewonked
gruffinized
voilerated (pronounced like boil)
kazzenroffited
aspenclanked
biskerdeeted
yempermacked
daxeroited

Then there are the words that come from suggestive English words or combinations.

axknifed (kind of like jackknife, accident)
accidoinked (accidentally "doinked" which could be a sound or some combination of dork + point + oink)
flubbiclicked (flubbed a click)
moshclicked (play on misclicked)
twitchclicked (you couldn't stop the twitch fast enough)
destructonated
smashified
smashereened (smash, smithereen)
evaporized/vaporated (pronounce how you like, from evaporate, vaporize)
ventanabanged (spanish for window)
losedowed (windowed minus win plus lose, pronounced looz-dode)

defenestrated (well, that's already a word, but I think it doesn't get used enough and this would be a fun play on words)

P.S. If you are running Windows XP and you get TweakUI for XP, it has a setting called "prevent applications from stealing the focus." This is very handy! You can make another application that tries to steal the focus just tamely blink on the taskbar, for example.

Well E², not only did you provide a list of answers, you gave me the workaround... Thank you and here's a star!

How about 'hurled'? Meaning (approximately) "threw", it is particularly apropos when discussing a lost web page because to get it back you will have to remember the URL of the page you hurled!

You can always look in your history, if the page hasn't been open forever...
