Hi All.

I am trying to give a user the ability to change the date and time on their system with a phone.

On the 7316E phone I have created a button self administer, with nothing in the action and I can find just about every option except setting date and time. I can SEE the time on the system but not set it.

I have tried using what shows in the document

Code:
[URL unfurl="true"]https://downloads.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100129467[/URL]

but as soon as I try to dial the second * after feature I get "invalid code". I have the phone I am using on the first position of my system, have tried different T series phones and I have set the user as power user, and tried all of the system phone rights.

How can I give them the ability to set the date and time???

Regards

You can't set the date and time using an T-Series phone on a non-Basic Edition IP Office system.

The Feature ** 266344 (if that is what you are trying as you didn't say) is for Basic Edition systems and would only work if the phone is in either of the first two ports on the control unit (slot 1, ports 1 or 2).

Hi there.

Yes I am doing it on an essential edition with 9.0.1.xxx software.

And I did have the phone in the first port of the first card ... in my case extension 201.

Thanks for confirming what I thought.

Regards

Hi intrigrant.

I would do that, save the customer has no internet access connected to their control unit, and no localized ntp server.

I was thinking of putting manager on their computer and showing them how to do the time change, but I'm not sure of their skill level... even if I cripple their accesses. (I have told them a number of times how to transfer me to the dial in modem and it is still a fight!)

Regards

You could try setting the time server to none and allowing ext 201 admin 2 phone rights (on the first page of the user profile...) Works on Avaya phones usually ends up under some sort of menu. Self admin just allows you to change your own buttons. We don't normally try to reuse the Nortel phones so I don't know where the menu would end up. If it is like Nortel you might try **time(8463).

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.

I've tried that budbyrd, and it is still a no go.

After digging through all of the information I could find, and talking with a friend at Avaya it looks like with the T series or M series phones you are out of luck.

Oh well.

I can handle the customer yelling...

Regards

The default settings of Manager and the IP Office allow Manager to act as the time server for the IP Office, without Manager needing to do anything like load the config. So let them run Manager and leave it running until the IP Office picks up the time from the Manager PC.
