Have you checked your wiring? Make sure everything is plugged in?

Red alarm is a physical layer problem - Cable disconnected, CSU not powered up, Broken connection, etc

follw your cables and make sure all plugged in ok, check your CSU, Check NIU - see what lights you have on.

Plug in a loop back towards switch from cable plugged into NIU -If switch comes up still telco problem.

both post are right.. red alarm, layer one.. the card does not even see the provider.. do you have a csu? or just a smart jack? lights on that may help.. as posted, loop back to the switch should make it stand up, then d will estb, the rls wronge mode.. on a rj loop pins 1 and 2 back to 4 and 5.. or on the db-15 1 and 3 back to 9 and 11

Troubleshooting a T1 is a step by step ordeal.
Get yourself a loopback plug and work your way away from the switch.

First plug loopback directly to the back of the switch, does the T1 come up green?
No change out the your card.
Yes, plug the original cable back in and move on to the other end of that cable and use your loopback, does the T1 still come up green?

No, replace your cable.
Yes, if your at the smartjack your done call your provider to let them know you are good all the way to the smartjack. If your at the CSU follow the outbond cable from the CSU to the smart jack and place your loopback plug there. Are your still coming up Green?

No, replace or bypass the CSU (assuming it's your CSU) or tell your provider that the CSU is bad.
Yes, again, call your provider to let them know you are good all the way to the smartjack.

one step i like to add to that great post.. put a loop back in at the last connection to the switch back to the provider and see if he can run to that... then while he is running, remove it to make sure he see's the loop drop.. if not he is running to a loop that he thought was not there..

i've worked on the dax end of that. you send a loopback sig to the smartjack.. run to that, send a teardown, send to to the csu, loop that, run to that, send the teardown.. turn it back over to the vendor... you ran to the smartjack and csu.. what can happen, 1st loop request looped up a repeater someone in the cloud, you ran to that, it does not drop that loop, you send the tear down and the next loop.. everything test better then perfect... no way to tell that 1st pop is still looped and your running to it, over and over.. SO if i can get the tester to run to my hardloop, and remove it, then wait for him to see it drop.. i know he had a good test,,long resp-onse but, as posted t's can fool people
