Thunderbird MoveMail empties the spool

I have setup fetchmail to grab e-mail from a few of my addresses, and set ThundBird to use movemail to grab the mail from the spool. Only pet peeve is that it doesn't stay if I set Thunder Bird to auto move - I don't care if the read stuff is moved, but I need the new mail to stay in the spool until it's marked read... Any ideas?
