can any body give me good url's for proggramming threads in unix/linux enviorment ..where i can find some application example's

man fork is the URL ;)
and I think there are good examles in every bigger software....

I think fork is for multitasking ,
i want some details about pthreads specifically

Sorry but I've never used threads under the linux OS. Once I did it under Win98/Visual C++ but my teacher told me that if I need to use thread it means that my algorythm is not quite good...
However my answer is the same: man pthread_create

I know that the man is not always helpful so I can recconed You to trace some real software. Usually when I have problem like that (not clearly described in the man pages) I do something like:
grep pthread /usr/src/* -r > pthread.examples
vi pthread.examples

Thats how I learned lots of tricks ....
