Hope this is OK here I could not fins a forum for it
Anyway
I need to be able to easily switch between home Roadrunner internet and Work DSL
When I am at work I have to use a Static IP to get on the network and to surf the internet and send and receive email.
Of course Roadrunner wants a Dynamic IP so when I get back home I have to change it all back again. When I am at one place I can use the others email.
Because the SMTP server are different ????
Can I set up two different users and have each use the correct IP connection?
And each have it own Outlook Express default user?

Any help here would be appreciated/ suggestions /comments
Does Windows XP Pro handle this better?

I would create a couple of batch files to easily switch the IP address depending on where you are...

Then I would just create different profiles in Outlook for your email.

If you were to create two different profiles in WinXp, they would both use the same IP address unless you had two separate network cards installed which may be another option.

If this is a laptop you should have the option for a "alternate configuration" under TCP/IP properties...

on my laptop I have it doing DHCP until it fails over and goes to my static (home) "alternate config"

..Outlook you would have to create 2 different profiles
that is the easiest solution

Doug,

I would use a combination of scott's, Auger's, and your ideas. First, create another user profile for work. You can use the current one for home.

Use the steps in scott's link to create a batch file to set your TCP/IP settings to use DHCP and have it run automatically (add it to your startup group) when you log on to your home profile. Create your email account accordingly.

Do the same with your work profile and be sure you set the batch file with the correct static IP, gateway, subnet mask and DNS addresses. Set up your work email account for your work profile and you should be good to go.

Hope this works for you...
