Hoping someone can help me with this.

I found this js calculator on the web:

... it works fine.

Why can't I steal it? I've tried saving the page locally (same name with the .asp extension) Also saved the associated .css page. Then I uploaded from my local web to my remote server which DOES support ASP. (even though I don't think this page really uses asp). Anyway... when I try to run it it just wipes out the first text box and sits there.

So... the script is good - but I can't seem to "grab" it and make it work.

Any suggestions? Here it is where I am trying to use it...
(so this link is MY site)
Thanks,
Valerie

You'd need to know what server-side processing the script does to have it fully working locally.

You could email the author and ask them for permission to steal their ASP code.

When you "view" an ASP in a web browser you are viewing the result of the output from a web server (in this case usually IIS). The "raw" asp file will contain some server-side code... and you cannot get to this unless you have access to the actual source files directly.

Looking at the page at that URL you posted, the file submits back to itself, and since there is no javascript set up to manage it, there must be some "back-end" server-side code that is accepting the form contents (and does something with them before supplying you with a result on your web browser).

That's the explaination.

The solution for you is to ask the author of the page for a copy of the source file (good luck on this one), keep using the URL you posted, or commission/build your own.
