ThinkPad laptop will not boot

Anyone have aproblem like this before? Put laptop into standby/sleep then un-pluged and pulugged power back in. Laptop will not boot. I have tried pulling the battery out and trying to boot with out battery. Nothing seems to work

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Connect the power cable (just incase the battery is low) then push and hold the power button until the laptop powers off (usually 5 seconds) If the laptop has a sliding power switch, slide it and hold it in the on position for 5 seconds, let go, then push the button to turn it on.
