Hello,
I own a Thinkpad 390E and have a problem I've not read about anywhere else. When I boot up with a music cd in the Thinkpad it recognizes the drive just fine, however if I try to boot up with a data disc in the drive, the drive does not show up in My Computer or in Device Manager and I cannot access it. HOWEVER if I use Hardware Manager and it does a search for new Plug and Play devices it will locate and add the drive to My Computer and Hardware Manager. My OS is Win2k, I have updated the driver just in case that would help. I tried uninstalling the drive and letting windows reinstall it, but it still has the same problem. The CD is the type that slides in and out of the side with no real "jumpers" or switches to mess with.
I sure would hate to have to search for new P&P devices just to get my CD ROM to work whenever I forget to boot up with a music CD inserted.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Brian
