Hello,

Since I deployed Alert Manager V4.7, users are receiving pop-up like this one

"The scan of E:\XXXX has taken too long to complete and is being canceled"

I changed the configuration of Alert Manager in ePO to prevent users to receive this popup, but it is just a way to hide the issue, the problem still exists. I didn't find anything about this issue in the NAI KB.

I'm running ePO 3.02a with VScan 7.1

Thanks for your help
Guillaume

Hi there,

This is related to the timeouts set in the configuration of VSE.
Look under Scan time in the General Tab.
The defaults are 15 seconds for archive files and 45 seconds for all other files.

You can extend these values but it may cause the pc to hang whilst the file is being scanned.

Yes, I saw this option, but I don't want to hide the problem, I would like to find a solution, there are so many clients who have this issue

Thanks

Hi again,

To avoid a scan timeout you need to give the scanner longer to scan the file.
This tends to occur more often with large files or files sitting on slow media such as floppy disks.
