The save failed due to out of memory or disk space" when tried to save a file on 2003 server from xp worlstation

no veritas on the server. real time antivirus protection turned off

Is this to a share?
Is there a quota on the shares?
Is there actually any free space?

yes to a share
no quota on the share
there is loads of free space

I've seen this, too, on some downloads. If I try to cut/paste I would get this error but if I drop and drag, I don't. Very odd. I have plenty of memory and drive space. I just started getting these after the December MS updates.
