Hello Everyone

I getting this error in the Event log under event ID 7.

The device, \Device\Harddisk0\Partition1, has a bad block

Should i worry?
Am i going to lose the hdd?
What should i do next?

It's a 2000 server with SCSI hot Swap drive.

Thanks

Hi

Do i need to do it ASAP or it can wait a few days?

The problem is, this server act as a file server and i just can't shut it down without planning and notify all users.

Do i need to think about buying a new HDD?

Thanks

Errr thats your call. It could be just a bad sector or a symptom of something worse, i'd make sure you're getting good backups if you leave it.

Best to test immediately.
Since this is a raid, schedule a consistency check weekly if possible. All disk sets will produce bad blocks eventually; if they continuously produce bad blocks,it is time to replace the disk. If a disk set has not been tested on a regular basis, it may take a few consistency tests to find/mark all the bad blocks.
