Can any one explain about for what a TFTP server is used for???

Neto....

I used mine to load the OS of simple devices from a server, rather than burn it into ROM of some sort.

TFTP is a very limited protocol, but it is used to load the OS and/or config files into cable modems, managed switches, thin clients, etc.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Yeah, it's great for smaller files. Quick, clean, low overhead. No advanced options though.

Good for Cisco routers and switches.
