Ok I must explain that I Am a newbiw with Dreamweaver and I really appreciate any help that you give me. I would like to know how to enter text on top of a image. the image is a gif89a, its a shpere and I Want to type on top of it. thanx a lot and sorry for the dumb question, you can reach me at bartags@hotmail.com or ICQ 66259725 or just respond here, thanx :-)

well you could do a layer in DW... but the best thing to do would be add your typing directly to the gif in a graphics app.
Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!

well I created the image in photoshop 6 and exported it as a gif89a. I thought if I added the text in photoshop that it would loose some of the quality is there any truth to this?
thanx for your help

I also tried doing a layer with text in it however I couldnt drap that layer on top of the layer that had the shpere in it. Is there any way of dragging a layer on top of another one?

Zack,

Depending upon your version of Dreamweaver (im using 3.x) Its under [Window | Layers ] or the F11 key There should be a checkbox for Prevent Overlaps. I have worked alot with layers and they can look really different from one browser (just I.E. to netscape even) to another. You might want to consider putting your text into the image itself like mentioned above.

I have worked with alot of text over images and if your working with tables there are a few other ways to do it.

Let me know if you need any more help with it and I will see what I can do!

Tech is right about the overlaps. You never know what you are going to get with that. You should not have any problems with the exporting text from PS6. If it gets to fuzzy for you turn off the anti-aliasing feature. Quality really shouldn't be an issue. I use the "adaptive" setting for the best results exporting .gifs Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!

Also, if you have the wonderfully accompanying software Fireworks®, there are some really nice export features with it.
