I opened notepad today... to change a file... I hit Control+F to open the find-box to find the text near where I wanted to change... and since then, text has been highlighting as if I were holding down the shift key.

If I use arrows, text highlights... If I use the mouse (thank God) text is not highlighted and I can click from spot to spot.. but still majorly a pain as I rely on the arrow keys quite a bit (habit).

I don't know a whole lot about hot keys but I looked around and couldn't find anything... I'd google this, but don't know what text to google for.

By the way, though it started in notepad, its doing it in all programs now.

As its the only problem and the server is busy, I'll try restarting late tonight and let you all know how that goes if noone has an answer.

The shift key is not stuck in place is it? You may want to just pop off the shift key (using a screwdriver, or your fingers) and just put in back in place. Also, are there any keyboard-related errors in the event log?
