Testing for presence of a file on FTP server

Is it possible to test for the presence of a file on an ftp server.

I have created a procedure that will upload a series of text files that have been exported from a database.

But I would like it so that the transfer would not occur if there was say an empty file called say flag.txt on the server.

Your help would be most welcome

What procedure did you use to upload the files from the database to the FTP server? I am trying to automate a similar process in Access. Any help?
