I am learning how to incorporate a Credit Card Payment system with my web site.

Does anyone know of a way to test out that functionality before bringing my project live? Is there a Merchant or something of that sort which will allow me to test out my Credit Card billing system by entering a “Dummy” Credit Card number into it before releasing the project to see if everything works ok?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, -- I don't remember what they are at the top of my head, but when I set up a system at a previous employer there was a dummy number that could be used. Check with your merchant to see if you have a "testing period" before your account goes live as well. This is where you can enter any credit card number and it will go through all the motions but actually posting the transaction to your account. When you are ready, the bank will set your account live. Almost all merchants have this for testing and setting up.

Good luck!

You can use Visa 4111111111111111 (15 1's) but this will always decline. We also use 5215521552155215 (This comes back as a call voice center) Any exp date in the future. If you call AMEX and Discvr they will give you numbers to test with at $1.00 each. I have lost those now. DeZiner

Many processing services also have a testing mode that you can either set in your settings, or by sending a field with your form that basically says "this is a test".

Check your processing service documentation.
