Just upgraded to vista and noticed that Hyperterm is no longer an available option.

I have been playing around with Putty but can't seem to get the keyboard working properly as I can't get logged in.

Requirements:
Free software prefer open source
gives me the ability to easily log all activity to a txt file.

If you have a suggestion and it requires some configuration please also include this.

procomm is not open source but 90 percent of us use it.. i can't think of a feature i've needed that's not in the box.. scripts programed in procomm aspect are a life saver..

i do have it loaded on a vista machine.. and the old dos version is still running on my old dsl (linux) box

I was wondering if I was not going to get to much suggestions because of Procomm.

We don't use it much I'm not a big phone person as this is not my main job. Hyperterm always did what I needed, acted a little funny in AX but I could get around.
Hard for me to justify spending anything on something I use maybe once every 3 months.

Not sure why Putty isn't working but when I type logi it goes right past the password and fails.

also to mention I use a Lantronix MSS100 to get ethernet connection to the PBX.

I wonder if you would have any luck copying hypertrm.exe (I see just a few other files in that directory) into Vista.

I used to carry a copy of terminal.exe and a few related files from Win31 that I used from diskette - so I always had a terminal on diskette with me.

from what I read online no issue.

My issue is licensing. Obviously this was a cut back MS made when going to Vista.

Hilgraeve used to offer it for free. If you Google HyperTerminal Private Edition, there are lots of sites that have it.
