Good afternoon,

We have a Windows Server 2003 R2 server that we can no longer RDP into because of a TS licensing issue error message. It was put into service on July 12, 2006, and I have read that there is a 120 day "trial period" during which we can use RDP into the server without purchasing licenses. I have also read that we don't need additional licenses unless we are going to have more than 2 inbound RDP connections at a time.

We have no need for more than two RDP connections at a time here, so do we need to purchase TS licenses, and if not, how can we open up this server for inbound RDP connections?

Thank you,
Isaac Grover

You need to uninstall Terminal Services on this Server.

Once that is complete, log on to the server, right-click on My Computer, click on the 'Remote' tab, and choose 'Enable Remote Desktop on this Computer'

This is true IF you are only RDPing in for remote administration purposes. If you are using terminal services in application mode then you must purchase TS CALs.
