Hi Guys,

I have an issue where i have setup terminal services but can only login as an administrator. TS Licensing is also on the same server and i have activated this with 10 CALs. It was my understanding that once activated users with the correct rights ie Remote Desktop Users, would be able to log in. Am i going about this the wrong way?

Thanks

Maybe a silly question but, if you go into Add\Remove programs - Windows Components, is Terminal Services checked? I ask because this caught me too when we moved from Win2K to Win2K3. In Win2K3 TS is installed in Admin mode by default, you only get App mode if you check it off in Add\Remove progs.

Andy,

Yes, Terminal Services is selected. Not too sure what else to check.

Thanks,

Dan

The only other thing I can think of is your GP settings. I don't know if you have a policy set up on the domain or the OU the server is in or if you're only using the local security policy but you should check the User Rights Assignment and make sure the appropriate groups are included in:
- Access this computer from the network
- Allow logon through terminal services
- Log on locally

Checked those settings and made a point of adding Remote Desktop Users to all. No different.

Those are the main things that come to mind. Is your domain controller in the same site? Just wondering if it might be an issue with authentication. As an experiment maybe you could create a local "user" account on the server and see if that lets you in.

Other than that I don't really know what else to suggest.
