Hi,

I am running W2k Adv Server SP2, with terminal services in application server mode.

MACHINE SPEC: Compaq Proliant DL360 PIII(1.13GHz), 512MB RAM, and 2 x 18.4GB Ultra3 scsi HDs in mirrored set.

The main purpose of this server is to share an MSAccess reporting tool for regional offices.
The problem is, that this particular application (MSAccess database) when run - either locally or via a TSC - takes an unreasonable amount of time to open (Up to 1min).
Running a report is impossible, as it causes the application to hang.
Performance monitor counters, do not indicate even the slightest amount of page file usage, also the CPU and Memory are running at normal levels (minimal usage even by system idle standard).
I have tried using full version of Access and also Runtime version.
I would appreciate any an all advise.

For future reference, for those that may enounter the same difficulties.
Upon a reinstall/rebuild of the machine, I omitted to add the anti-virus software (McAfee Virusscan 4.5.1), and the application worked fine.
Oops silly mistake, well we all make them from time to time, but hopefully you can avoid making this one.

Anti-virus software care cause a variety of problems, but does this mean that you can't run anti-virus on this server, or just can't run the real-time virus scanning? Michelle Fulton

Hi,

I am not sure about that.
I am currently researching that with mcafee, but if anyone comes up with an answer before then, I would like to hear it, as I would rather not leave my system defenseless.
