Hi..I hope you guys can help.
I have a 850DP with total page count of 15.
On the menu it states 99% life of maintenace tray but gives me a message on the display of:

Ready to print.
Preventive maintenance.
Replace maintenance kit now.

Is there a way to reset this?

Also the last 2 pages printed had error codes of:
22,606.07:7
22,024.01:0

But the machine prints an incredible test page.
I know the printer has been sitting unused for years
could that account for the error codes?
Thanks for your help.

What is the date on the config page? The rollers have a date code embedded on the counter so if it is past date of 15 months or if the date on the printer is wrong that may also cause this. You can adjust the date in ceterware by putting the ip address in your internet explorer address window. That will bring up the printers home page, from there you can see the date and adjust amongst other things. If all the dates are correct it maybe that kit is expired due to the date code.it may allow you to continue to print but will still display that message since it also shows 99% remaining. Only concern is that the oil can dry up and then the ink will stick to the drum causing print quality problems and a noticable tearing noise as paper exits. Hope this helps.

Yes the printer was last configured in May 15, 2001.
How would I reconfigure the date?
Thanks.

Hook the printer up to your network and open your internet browser. Type the IP address into the address box and press enter. That will bring up the internal web page of the printer. Once there click on properties and look under general, you will see the date and time setting. Set it back to 2001 and the message will go away. Just pay attention to your print quality. You might get bad prints as the oil drys up. At that time you will have to replace the kit.

Thanks XeroxTech. I wondered about doing that, guess there really is no reason why the date on the printer has to be current. I do have a new maintenance kit, should I go ahead and install it?? Then the counter will reset itself.

another question. If I'm printing a relatively small amount, a few hundred a month. Is the printhead going to burn out on me quickly?? Is there anyway to avoid this?

Thanks again.

I would not install the new kit until you start having print quality issues. The counter is the part of the kit (the C2) and will only reset itself when a new kit is installed. If you do not use the printer alot you are going to get color shift, thats when your cyan turns aqua, the yellow will turn blackish and the magenta will turn more red. If the cyan keeps shifting it will clog your printhead. The only real way to stop this from happening is to print more or turn the printer off when not in use. Both of those options will use ink. You could print a solid fill of each color twice a day, that might slow down the process. Its up to you. The cost of replacing a printhead is about $600.00 plus labor. Also make sure you use real Xerox ink because i cannot tell you how many printheads i have replaced do to using non xerox ink.

Thanks XeroxTech. If I turn off the printer each day then the only thing I have to worry about is using extra ink at start-up? Seems like that would be the easiest since I'm only printing a few hundered pages a month. How much ink can use? not half a cube at startup?
Thanks XeroxTech. Do you know where I could get an owners manual?
