TCPIP AND IPX SERVICES AUTOFAIL

We have a Netware 6 sp5 server. After a reboot yesterday the server has lost all tcpip and ipx services. It reboots with very little services and the rest would all autofail. Has lost all bindings, NIC cards references etc. Impossible to load inetcfg or any other services relating to protocols.

I managed to log on the server through a client by manually re-installing the drivers on the network card. I know I can bind cards (public and private) manually, but every time I reboot the server everything goes lost as files are not updated. I run sp5 several times to no avail. No services are available (including TCPCON). We have Bordermanager 3.6 too.

I had an error -634 too, but all on the server seems to be fine, after having done a few repair jobs.

I can access all the files and server through the client but cannot to get to repair the corruption.

Anyone can help?

Thanks

Eugenia

You need to bring the server up in stages and figure out the first thing that is failing.. It's probably caught up on one module, and then everything else snowballs.

There are several TIDs out there that explain the process. Look up 'LOADSTAGE' on Novell's knowledgebase.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try. I have tried to replace all the nlms which seem to be corrupt and reinstalled the firewall patch + sp5, and that has not worked either. Cannot restore SYS from backup as so few services are available, i.e. that does not come up.

I'll try with your suggestion and search on loadstage for the specific issue of loading. All the searching I have done until on the tcpip issue has brought nothing specific.

I also seem to remember in a previous post of yours that you deal a lot with 6.5. Is it any good? We wanted to do cluster services and are seriously thinking of upgrading, but sometimes upgrades are not worth all the hassle.

Thanks for the time being!
