How can I tell if TCP WRAPPERS are being used by an AIX system. What are the commands ?

The best thing to use to make sure that the TCB is installed in your system is to use lslpp -L!

I guess the filesystems will contain tcb somewhere if i'm not mistaken

so you can use the following:

lslpp -L | grep tcb

or you can run any TCB command to see if TCB is being used!

go thru this document, you will find what you need

IBM AIX does not include this function, try a google for:
site:ibm.com aix tcp wrappers
and have a read.

The AIX expansion pack mentions:

TCP Wrapper is an open source program V7.6 that can
protect access to network services such as telnet, ftp, rlogin,
rsh, tftp, etc. It can be configured to deny or allow remote
hosts to access these services. TCP Wrapper can monitor
and log access to these services via a log file or the AIX
audit facility.
More information on TCP Wrapper can be found at:
ftp://ftp.porcupine.org/pub/security/index.htm

Hi

TCP Wrappers can be seen to wrap services like telnet /ftp etc

By default AIX does not , but you have to install and configure TCP-Wrapper on AIX

For a quick check on your system , you can have a view on /etc/inted.conf and if your telnet/ftp services have been protected by tcp wrapper, you can find some thing like that in your inted.conf file

/etc/inetd.conf entry:
------------------------
telnet stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd -l -d telnetd
ftp stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd -l -d ftpd

Is there a tool for AIX 5.3 that shows me the availability of the server for a month?
