I woudl like to block chat use in our computer lab. Previously we did this by firewall software. We just migrated to Win2k and I have heard that it can be done by the built-in tcp/ip filtering. Has anyone done this? How effective has it been for you? Is this method prefereble to firewall? We have hard disk secured by Centuron Guard (granted to us and it seems solid; we used deep freeze in the past). Thanks for any help offered.

Additionally, if someone can point me to a good resource for win2k tcp/ip port information, I'd be grateful.

Right click on "My Network Places"

Select "TCP/IP" the click "Properties"

On the General Tab click "Advanced" button

Select the "Options" Tab

Select "TCP/IP filtering" click "Properties" button

Enable TC/IP Filtering for all adaptors

Enter in the apporpriate ports and click "OK" until your at the desktop again.

Cheers

Thx to all who respond ;)

Thanks. I just have to tinker and discover what ports that I need to keep open.
