Hi all,

Help..again!

We have a Windows 2000 Server running VPN and Firewall-1 using Checkpoint software on Client and Server ends.

All seemed to be ok for 3-4 months. Now were are getting a problem that crops up every 8-10 days where users can still dial in and connect and have access to the company intranet etc but when accessing Outlook 98 - the users authenticate fine - no problems - can send and receive emails fine but cannot do the following:

Reply to an email via the reply button
View the calender
View,edit or add a task

Every other part of the system works fine.
To resolve this we are having to reboot the firewall in our office - then all works a treat. Has anyone got any idea what could be happeneing. Users are dialing up using Freeserve as an ISP.

Any help would be great :)

Cheers Guys

Chris

Outlook makes extensive use of RPC (Remote procedure calls).
I think these run on port 135 (not sure if UDP or TCP though...)
I know this isn't much help but it's a clue where to start looking though...... instead of rebooting the firewall, can u not stop and start the service / daemon? Does this clear the problem? If u have to reboot, then you're problem is more deep rooted, I would have thought.
Stopping and starting the firewall daemon should clear the problem. If it doesn't then maybe you have operating system issues to dela with first of all. What platform/OS is Checkpoint running on?
