I have some scheduled tasks set up to run as Administrator. One of them runs every hour for about 8 hours every day. I can edit the task to run as Administrator and give it the password and all is well... until the next day when it tries to run the task again. It says the username/password is not correct. I can then go back in and reenter the password and it's fine for the rest of the day. I've tried recreating the task and setting up other tasks as tests but I get the same problem. It seems like its losing the password sometime during the night and I can't figure out why.

In case anyone cares, I think I got this fixed. I had to assign the "Log on as a batch job" rights to the user that the task runs as.

Philote,

I am interested in you problem as I also have a a similar query but in windows server 2003. It doesn;t seen to run when the server is "logged off" do you have any idea of why this happens? I have looked at implementing the solution you found but I don't know wher the option to set "log on as batch job rights" is...can you help.

Regards

You can find this option in either the GPO or the local security policy. To set the rights across the domain, edit the GPO on the domain controller. To set the rights only on one machine edit the machine's Local Security Policy. Expand Local Policies and click on User Rights Assignment. Here you can grant various rights to accounts as needed.
