I've had a problem for months where the task scheduler on one machine fails to start a scheduled task. It appears to be related to Norton Anti Virus task scheduling, in the following way:
When the system is cold started the task scheduler works just fine. After the scheduled Antivirus (Norton) task is supposed to start, the task scheduler no longer runs scheduled tasks. It's as if Norton is failing to start and blocking any other task from starting. I've called MS, and Norton responds with reinstall (which I did to no effect). It may be security related as the xp system is on an active directory supported network. Another machine on the network, is logged in as the local system user, but connected and it's task scheduler works just fine.
Can anyone recommend a way to debug this problem? Or has anyone suggestions on what might be wrong? Thanks in advance.
