In Windows when someone has moved the task bar to below the viewable screen and cannot bring it back up, is there a KEY Combonation to bring it back to the default position? I do know that "Ctrl-Esc" will expand the Start Bar. I think you might be able to ajust it when visible. Hope so. Best of Luck though i'll mess around abit. Best Regards, -md

I tried that. Did not work. i know MS put a reset code (using a key combo) for this very issue. I cannot find it. Part of my job includes phone tech support and most of the users cannot use the mouse well enough to click, hold, and drag the bar back. Sorry it didn't help... i found some pages that you might find intersting regarding key combos, (though sadly none relate to your question).

I checked the registry and there was a key dealing with the default taskbar in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer/streams/Desktop. This really doesn't deal w/ what you're trying to do but hopefully give a direction. Hope it works out. Have a good weekend! -md

In those cases where mousing to the edge where it is hidden doesn't pop it up, is there a possibility that a user has moved it to another edge. Or possibly they have resized the screen so it never shows. Or have reduced in size and autohid as well. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Doesn't the Task Bar reset to default in Safe Mode? I'm not sure it would help with these particular users, it's just a thought. If you do find the keypresses, please post.

Thanks paulwood> I did not think of that. I will test that theory today. Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.

I would also like to mention that if all possible I want to avoid rebooting. Again the safe mode might work (I need to test it) the problem stems from users in offices who know little about PC's trying to reboot and get to Safe Mode. There is a key reset out there for this problem. Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.
