Hi

Well im new to Tapeware it came free with the HP backup tapes.

At the moment I have installed it on a Windows 2000 Workstation OS, Windows 2000 server and an adnaved server.
All machines can be seen in the Database.
There is only one device attached to the win2k worktstation.
How do i go about selecting files and folders for the other two servers to backup to the same device as on the win 2k workstation.

Thanks

I think I got the answer from another post, its summat to do with the licence key.

Yep, licensing can be a pain, and it's not cheap.

There are workarounds tho. set up the integrated backup on all your windows workstations to backup data to file to the user shares and just backup the data on the server. Get rid of the network portion of tapeware. It works.

If you run exchange, the same can be done. backup to file to the server with the tape drive and you're set to go.

The way you do this is with mapped drives:
Map a share on the computer with Tapeware then go in to the Tapeware dir there will be a file named tapeware.ini <something like this can't quite remember - go to search type ABCDE this will bring you to a line that looks something like this:

#enabledrive~1=ABCDEFG

Delete the # And List The Mapped Drives

Ex.

\\compputername\share = E:
\\compputername\share2 = F:

enabledrive~1=EF

---------------------------------------------
There is only one problem with this solution and that is that Tapeware cannot be ran as a service - this is because when it is ran as a service the program inherits the same permissions the system - and the system has no access to external computers - so the tapeware software must not be installed as a service if this is your solution

Sorry if this didn't help
