Hi All,

I have an issue where my backups were not appending to the previous nights backup, but were formatting blank tapes each night for the backups. So for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, the backup job wrote to new tapes instead of appending them to one tape.
They were formatted using the same tape name (1/5/08 11:18PM). I would like to get the information onto one tape so I used tapecopy to write the data from one of the tapes to a file system device. I then tried to do a tapecopy back to another tape with the same name. The problem that I am having is that tapecopy is giving me an error that there are no blank tapes. I've tried the -a (append) and -o (overwrite) but neither worked. Is it possible to do a tapecopy from one FS device to another using the same tape name?

Do a quick erase on the target tape and leave it as blank. Tapecopy will format it with the same name.
