Tape Stuck

Occassionally we have a backup that fails due to a media error. The tape remains in the DDS4 tape device and cannot be ejected. Does anyone know how to eject or remove the tape without downing the server.

Internal SDT 9000 tape drive.

no but make sure the OS driver is not running that might be atributing to the problem.
