tape not in media index

Hallo,
I want to mount some tape. But it finished at this messages: 14.06.2004 09:33:02 nsrd: Jukebox 'xxxx' failed: dlt7000 tape 000012 not in media index.
If I look over nsrjb I can see:
slot volume pool barcode volume id recyclable
13: 000012* -

I make nsrjb -I -v -S 13 a then nsrjb again but another result:
13: 000012 KVAK 00012 23563 yes
Why did information about tape disappear?

This will be the question - NW will not delete this info automatically (except there would be a bug).

However, an administrator could of course delete the info about the volume from the media database, for example with "nsrmm -d volume".

Do not forget that you still can retrieve the information with the "scanner" command until the volume will be relabeled.

Did the volume show in the volumes tab still?
If so, then te jukebox details lost the entry, this could be a barcode glitch (on the reader possibly) or a transient problem using this volume, or even the shutting down of Networker.
It looks as though the inventory sorted it. Did the tape work ok after doing the nsrjb -I? If so, watch for scsi errors from the jukebox (or acsls errors on the LSU if it is driven by ACSLS).

This behaviour appends for example if you ejected the tape and then insterted it in the jukebox. You need always an inventory before Networker mount the tape.

This is not true. Removing a tape from the jukebox does NOT remove the tape from the media index. Such behaviour would be useless as this would also apply to any stand-alone device - of course you can not even run an inventory process here.

If you have media with barcodes and a jukebox with a barcode reader, the inventory will not take place after the media has been labeled - NW trusts the barcode for during the scan of the barcode labels and will not inventory the tape (it will not read the tape label at this time). But he will of course verify the tape label if it mounts the media.

However, without barcodes, NW has no other choice to recognize the media - it must be inventoried.
