Hi,

When I label brand new tapes for example 'FULL' pool, although the tape labels ok according to the barcode, NW6.0 reports

media warning\\.\Tape0 reading: unknown error 1104(0x450).

all tapes are new and both drives have been cleaned

any ideas much appreciated.
thanks

This is obvious and it is normal for each backup software.

To make sure not to overwrite a valid tape, the first thing such software will do is to detect a label. Of course this is impossible on a new tape and returns an error.

Interesting? because I have another backup server and it does NOT give any error messages labelling new tapes as the one in question.

Look at the daemon.log file - you should at least see read I/O errors.
