Hello All,
Backup Exec 9.1, Win2k server.
I have a question. Are you see this too? Backed up 51,030,222 bytes. 24,220 directories, 1890 files. The byte count shows up as 51,030,022. Hardware compression on. Backed up to a DLT 80/160 tape drive.
Recreated the catalog, byte count was only 48,345,333.
How can this be? Where did the bytes go?
Compression? Can't be.
Another test to see if it compression:
--------------------------------------------
Backed up to TAPE, 9,211,900 bytes. 200 directories, 992 files. No compression.
Backup the same data to DISK, 9,211,900 bytes, 200 directories, 992 files, no compression.
Deleted the catalogs, recataloged the tapes, byte counts show up as 8,900,093 on both tape and disk, no compression. Same directory and file count.
Difference of 311.807 bytes. Huh?
"Use storage Media based Catalogs" is off, to get an accurate count of the catalogs.
Why the byte difference? Confused.
Thanks in advance.
Ennio
